zkldi 73abd669dc fix: strict false is actually *causing* errors ...

would ya believe it? typescript interprets an empty array as
Array<undefined> in non-strict mode, and Array<void> in strict.
This bizarre behaviour causes even more bizarre errors
when using ts-node to run our scripts.
