From 981c302dfc292b4bf34c2d9d1353cd8f0dab6bbb Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: kichikuou Date: Tue, 15 Sep 2026 20:22:54 +0900 Subject: [PATCH] Migrate Android from SDL2 to SDL3 Make SDL3 the default and only supported SDL version for Android. Download the official SDL3 Android AAR during Gradle configuration and expose it to the native CMake build through Prefab. SDL_ttf 3 is built from source with HarfBuzz and PlutoSVG disabled. --- .github/workflows/android.yml | 1 + .gitignore | 1 + CMakeLists.txt | 16 +- android/app/build.gradle | 37 +- android/app/jni/Android.mk | 1 - android/app/jni/Application.mk | 10 - android/app/jni/CMakeLists.txt | 32 +- android/app/jni/src/Android.mk | 18 - android/app/jni/src/CMakeLists.txt | 13 - .../github/kichikuou/system3/GameActivity.kt | 2 +- .../kichikuou/system3/LicensesMenuActivity.kt | 1 - .../main/java/org/libsdl/app/HIDDevice.java | 22 - .../app/HIDDeviceBLESteamController.java | 650 ----- .../java/org/libsdl/app/HIDDeviceManager.java | 698 ------ .../java/org/libsdl/app/HIDDeviceUSB.java | 309 --- .../app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/SDL.java | 90 - .../main/java/org/libsdl/app/SDLActivity.java | 2120 ----------------- .../java/org/libsdl/app/SDLAudioManager.java | 514 ---- .../org/libsdl/app/SDLControllerManager.java | 856 ------- .../main/java/org/libsdl/app/SDLSurface.java | 405 ---- src/android/jnihelper.h | 4 +- 21 files changed, 65 insertions(+), 5735 deletions(-) delete mode 100644 android/app/jni/Android.mk delete mode 100644 android/app/jni/Application.mk delete mode 100644 android/app/jni/src/Android.mk delete mode 100644 android/app/jni/src/CMakeLists.txt delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/HIDDevice.java delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/HIDDeviceBLESteamController.java delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/HIDDeviceManager.java delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/HIDDeviceUSB.java delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/SDL.java delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/SDLActivity.java delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/SDLAudioManager.java delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/SDLControllerManager.java delete mode 100644 android/app/src/main/java/org/libsdl/app/SDLSurface.java diff --git a/.github/workflows/android.yml b/.github/workflows/android.yml index 7f95cb9..821a220 100644 --- a/.github/workflows/android.yml +++ b/.github/workflows/android.yml @@ -4,6 +4,7 @@ on: [push, pull_request] jobs: build: runs-on: ubuntu-latest + name: Android SDL3 steps: - uses: actions/checkout@v6 diff --git a/.gitignore b/.gitignore index 2ffbe8e..07eff37 100644 --- a/.gitignore +++ b/.gitignore @@ -3,6 +3,7 @@ android/.gradle android/.idea/ android/app/.cxx/ android/app/.externalNativeBuild +android/app/aars/ android/app/build android/app/src/main/assets android/keystore.jks diff --git a/CMakeLists.txt b/CMakeLists.txt index 123d9cb..aeaea36 100644 --- a/CMakeLists.txt +++ b/CMakeLists.txt @@ -9,7 +9,12 @@ project(System3 LANGUAGES CXX) set(CMAKE_CXX_STANDARD 17) include(CTest) -set(SYSTEM3_SDL_VERSION "2" CACHE STRING +if (ANDROID) + set(_SYSTEM3_DEFAULT_SDL_VERSION "3") +else() + set(_SYSTEM3_DEFAULT_SDL_VERSION "2") +endif() +set(SYSTEM3_SDL_VERSION "${_SYSTEM3_DEFAULT_SDL_VERSION}" CACHE STRING "SDL major version (2 or 3)") set_property(CACHE SYSTEM3_SDL_VERSION PROPERTY STRINGS 2 3) if (NOT SYSTEM3_SDL_VERSION STREQUAL "2" AND @@ -56,17 +61,18 @@ endif() if (ANDROID) - if (NOT SYSTEM3_SDL_VERSION STREQUAL "2") - message(FATAL_ERROR "Android currently supports SDL2 only") + if (NOT SYSTEM3_SDL_VERSION STREQUAL "3") + message(FATAL_ERROR "Android supports SDL3 only") endif() add_library(system3 SHARED) target_sources(system3 PRIVATE src/android/nact_android.cpp - src/generic/mako.cpp + ${SYSTEM3_AUDIO_BACKEND} ) find_library(ndk_log log) - target_link_libraries(system3 PRIVATE SDL2 SDL2_ttf ymfm ${ndk_log}) + target_link_libraries(system3_sdl INTERFACE SDL3::SDL3 SDL3_ttf::SDL3_ttf) + target_link_libraries(system3 PRIVATE ymfm ${ndk_log}) elseif (EMSCRIPTEN) option(JSPI "Use JavaScript Promise Integration instead of Asyncify" OFF) diff --git a/android/app/build.gradle b/android/app/build.gradle index 8e849dd..0de9815 100644 --- a/android/app/build.gradle +++ b/android/app/build.gradle @@ -8,10 +8,44 @@ else { } apply plugin: 'kotlin-android' +// Use SDL3's official prebuilt Android Archive (AAR).
