We have code from toaster tools that might be rather easy to adapt to upstream as it is based on some old BT5 version. Since the geninput stuff hasn't changed a lot, we might benefit from that. However, we should align with the original authors since they also reached out to us that they might be interested in upstreaming parts of toaster tools.
